John F. Cook Lodge No. 10
In 1871, seven Master Masons from Warren Lodge No. 8 and Pythagoras Lodge No. 9 namely; Isaac Uncles, William Miller, James Collins, William Pearch, John H. Mitchell, Joseph Matthews, and Philip Green, decided that another Masonic Lodge was needed in the Jurisdiction of the District of Columbia.
They requested a dispensation to form a new Lodge from Most Worshipful Grand Master John F. Cook (of the then Grand Lodge of the District of Columbia). After serving the requisite time under dispensation (U.D.), a warrant was issued on April 10, 1873. The Lodge was named John F. Cook Lodge No. 10. It was named after the longest-serving Grand Master of the Jurisdiction who was responsible for establishing six new lodges under his service as the Most Worshipful Grand Master.
Beginning on April 10, 1873, the 23 charter members have served John F. Cook Lodge No. 10 with selfless devotion and dedication. Our members have kept the masonic traditions alive by serving humanity, promoting the message of love and respect for individuals, and maintaining a well-balanced existence. The members of the lodge strive to follow the Masonic traditions by providing relief to worthy Master Masons, their orphans, and widows through God’s countless blessings and guidance. We continue to bring our members together and allow them to realize and rediscover their self-worth through study, knowledge, community service, and charity.
John F. Cook Lodge No. 10 is one of twenty-five Prince Hall Affiliated Lodges warranted under the Jurisdiction of the Most Worshipful Prince Hall Grand Lodge, F. & A.M., Inc., of the District of Columbia. We are a fraternal organization that strive to help good men become better through living a well-balanced life. We hold monthly Communications to conduct the business and bring in new members to our organization. We help these new members realize their true potential and self-worth.
We are a group of upright men who believe in working together to improve our communities through brotherly love, truth, and relief.
